WWE NXT Highlights: Kelani Jordan Retains as Zilla Fatu Rejects Birth Right and Jackson Drake Defends Title

The latest episode of WWE NXT delivered several major developments as champions defended their titles and new rivalries began to take shape. With Halloween Havoc on the horizon, the September 8 episode featured Kelani Jordan defending the NXT Women’s Championship, Jackson Drake putting his North American Championship on the line, and Zilla Fatu refusing an offer from BirthRight.

Kelani Jordan Retains NXT Women’s Championship

Kelani Jordan successfully defended the NXT Women’s Championship against Jaida Parker in a hard-fought contest. Parker came close to ending Jordan’s reign, but the champion stayed composed when it mattered most.

After Parker crashed into the corner, Jordan found her opening and delivered her signature One of a Kind Moonsault to secure the victory and retain her championship.

However, Jordan’s night took an ugly turn after the match. Wren Sinclair attacked the NXT Women’s Champion with a kendo stick, immediately creating another threat around the title picture.

Zilla Fatu Rejects BirthRight

Zilla Fatu also found himself at the center of a major storyline. BirthRight attempted to bring Fatu into its ranks, but the young star rejected the faction’s offer.

The decision resulted in a brutal response. Charlie Dempsey, Uriah Connors, Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, Lexis King and Arianna Grace attacked Fatu and left him at the mercy of the group. WWE’s official highlights showed BirthRight smashing Fatu through a table.

Fatu had already refused BirthRight’s advances following his victory over Tristan Angels on September 1, making it clear that he intends to establish his own identity in NXT rather than follow the faction’s path.

Jackson Drake Retains North American Championship

Jackson Drake also successfully defended his NXT North American Championship against Tavion Heights.

He faced serious trouble during the match after suffering a foot injury and removing his boot to ease the pressure. Heights targeted the injury and even locked in an Ankle Lock, but Drake managed to escape.

The champion eventually changed the momentum with a huge knee strike before hitting the 450 Splash to secure the victory and retain his title.

More WWE NXT Developments

The episode also saw Tony D’Angelo, Mason Rook and Saquon Shugars defeat Cruz Montana, EK Prosper and Keanu Carver. Their victory earned them places in next week’s triple-threat match to determine a challenger for NXT Champion Grayson Waller.

With multiple championships defended and several rivalries intensifying, WWE NXT continues to build strong momentum toward Halloween Havoc.
